The social accounts of political servants, SG government agencies were harassed by supporters of the preacher

SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS of several political office -bearers and Singapore government agencies have experienced ‘spam’ harassment sent by supporters of preacher Abdul Somand Batubara.

The preacher was banned from entering the country by Singapore authorities last Monday.

Responding to media queries, a Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) spokesman in a statement yesterday confirmed the harassment, saying there were also calls by activists at several Indonesian public chat groups to launch cyber attacks on Singapore's government social media accounts.

Spam refers to the act of sending a message to a large number of recipients or sending the same message repeatedly for the purpose of harassing the recipient

"In addition, the sites of two event management companies have been damaged. The websites have been restored and SingCERT will contact the company to extend our assistance," an MCI spokesperson said.
