floods that are predicted to occur in the coastal areas of Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province. This phenomenon is expected to take place between December 4 and 13, 2025. The warning news

Karimun, Batamnews - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning regarding the potential for flash floods that are predicted to occur in the coastal areas of Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province. This phenomenon is expected to take place between December 4 and 13, 2025. The warning was delivered following the potential increase in sea level due to the combination of the Perigee Phase, which is the closest distance of the moon to the earth, as well as the moment of the Full Moon which can naturally trigger a rise in sea level. Following up on the warning, the Regent of Karimun, Ing Iskandarsyah, instructed all Sub-Districts, Lurahs, and Village Heads to be on alert and take precautionary measures in their respective regions. "Yesterday I already instructed to anticipate," said the Regent. He asserted that the ranks of the regional government should prepare various emergency needs when a flood really occurs and has an impact on the lives of citizens.

"For example, people's kitchens are submerged in water and they can't cook, so they might prepare wrapped rice," said Iskandarsyah. According to him, this anticipatory effort is necessary so that similar incidents that happened in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra do not happen in Karimun. The surge in sea water discharge in some of these areas has caused major floods and caused various losses, both material and non-material.

"BMKG conveys the potential of rob floods in the Karimun coastal region, so it needs to be observed and anticipated from now on," he said. BMKG predicts a number of areas in Karimun that could potentially be affected by floods, including the coastal areas of West Kundur District, Karimun, Meral, and the surrounding areas.

The Regent of Iskandarsyah also reminded that rob floods can disrupt the vital activities of the community, including sea transport mobility, loading and unloading activities at the port, up to the economic activities of coastal residents. "The people of Karimun Regency to be aware of the phenomenon of coastal flooding or robbing," said the Regent. The regional government will continue to monitor weather conditions and water level and coordinate with BMKG to ensure the latest information is delivered to the community. Coastal residents are urged to stay alert, take care of valuables, and prioritize safety in the event of tidal waves or waterlogging in the area where they live.
